Donation Request Policy

As of February 2, 2026

The Steam Railroading Institute supports non-profit organizations through the donation of tickets or gift shop items. Monetary requests and sponsorships are not eligible. As a 501(c) (3) non-profit, it is our policy to donate only to other 501(c) (3) organizations. We would like to grant all requests, but as a non-profit organization, we must limit the number of contributions we make annually.

We will make no donations that benefit specific religious or political organizations or any organizations which represent an issue generally regarded as political.

Awarded tickets will be for a specific day and time and must be claimed during the same calendar year in which they were applied for.

Donation Request Form:

Requests must be received 4-6 weeks prior to your event and submitted via e-mail. The standard number of tickets given is four.

Requests may take 1-2 weeks to process. The organization requesting the donation will be contacted by email, regardless of whether the request is approved or not. No phone calls or mail solicitations please. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

To request a donation, please follow these simple steps:

1. Send us a letter on the organization’s letterhead. Include:

• The organization’s non-profit federal tax ID number
• The name of the fundraising event
• The date of the fundraising event
• An event description
• An event website if applicable
• Description of how the tickets will be used (ex. raffle, gift basket, etc)
• Contact name, role with the organization, email and phone number
