Christmas in July
July 20th, 6:00pm – 11:00pm
Join the us in Owosso for our free annual Christmas in July event on July 20th. We will be open for our regular summer hours (10am-4pm) with all the Christmas in July activities kicking off with the arrival of Santa at 6pm! We will be offering caboose rides every 30 minutes from 6pm-9pm. Our ice cream stand will be open in our Hobo Camp area, and an outdoor screening of THE POLAR EXPRESS will begin at 9pm. In the event of rain, the movie will be shown indoors.

Yard Goat Caboose Rides
Saturday, July 20th, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Hop onboard for an educational experience and learn what it took to keep the busy train yards operating like clockwork when the little switcher engines, known as “yard goats,” worked tirelessly around the clock. Tickets are sold on a “first come, first served” basis.

Maroon & Gold Express – Football Train
October 12th, 9:00am – 8:30pm
Climb aboard a tailgate experience like no other on the diesel-powered Maroon and Gold Express! Central Michigan’s Homecoming game against the Ohio University “Bobcats”. Passengers will have two options: Attend the football game, or use the time we will be in Mt. Pleasant to dine at Mountain Town Station, and visit the downtown area.

Listen to the whistle blast of PM 1225 cut through the brisk fall air of northern Michigan on these steam-powered excursions departing from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Explore the train and let the picturesque autumn foliage and the vintage rail cars sweep you down the tracks to the splendor of yesteryear. Enjoy a two-hour layover to sightsee, browse boutiques and emporiums, try local wineries, breweries, candy shops, and dine in downtown Cadillac!

Depart from Owosso’s Steam Railroading Institute on a four and a half-hour round trip to the Village of Ashley Country Christmas.
