LeHigh Valley Coal Co. 126 of the Gramling Locomotive Works will be returning to the Steam Railroading Institute for a Summer of Steam! Be our guest in 2018 as the 1931 0-6-0 tank engine will be steamed up in participation for many different events throughout the summer months here in Owosso.
Climb aboard on June 9th, 24th, and September 8th for our Hobo Camp Themed Steam Train Rides behind the 126 in conjunction with Downtown Owosso's upcoming Curwood Festival, Open Streets, and the ArtWalk. Depart from the Institute on a ROUND TRIP, one-hour experience; jam packed with both fun and adventure! Passengers will also receive free admission to the SRI grounds and welcome center, a behind the scenes tour of the backshop, unlimited rides on the 7 ½ gauge railroad, and a visit to the Hobo Camp to meet Guitar Slim and the hobo gang.
LVCC 126 will also be fired-up and offering ROUND TRIP, one-hour excursions during Trains and Tractors; a brand-new summer event on July 7th hosted by the Steam Railroading Institute. Partnering with the Heart of Michigan Antique Tractor Club, you'll be surrounded by antique tractors, historic steam trains, vintage equipment and so much more!
Hands on the Throttle is one of our most popular programs and the 126 will be taking part at the Institute on June 8th and 10th, 22nd and 23rd, July 6th, and September 7th and 9th. Here's your opportunity to blow the whistle, open the throttle and operate this unique, Vulcan tank engine!
Tickets for all the train rides behind the Lehigh Valley 126 are $8* for coach and $12* for caboose, Hands on the Throttle is $160* for one half-hour run time.
